Art In Unexpected Places

For two decades, Art in Unexpected Places has brought contemporary art to Aspen Snowmass. The mountains are a gallery. And lift tickets are a canvas. All featuring internationally recognized artists and inviting skiers and riders to experience the resort through a fresh, creative lens. I’ve worked closely with the program to interview artists, tell their stories, and bring their work to life across the resort. Making sure every turn down the mountain holds a spark of discovery. Long love art.

This is the story of 20 Years of ArtUP

Alex Israel – For ArtUP’s 20th anniversary in 2024–2025, I supported the collaboration with Alex Israel, bringing his “Heaven” exhibition to the historic Ruthie’s building on Aspen Mountain, documenting the project, and creating storytelling to celebrate the milestone season.

Claudia Comte – For the 2023–2024 season, I interviewed and profiled Swiss multi-disciplinary artist Claudie Comte, whose work explored climate, nature, and playful surrealism. I helped bring her art to life on lift tickets, passes, on-mountain installations, and in storytelling that engaged both guests and the community

Rashid Johnson – For the 2022–2023 season, I covered Rashid Johnson’s mixed-media work on lift tickets, ski cards, and limited-edition merchandising, while interviewing the artist and creating content that contextualized his art for a broad audience.

Paola Pivi – For the 2021-2022 season, I profiled Italian contemporary artist Paola Pivi, highlighting her whimsical installations, including life-like dancing bears, for ArtUP exhibitions across the resort.
